Juniper: Daisy Chain Workshop

I am Juniper Girgis I have been making jewelry for about 20 years and handstamped jewelry for about 5 years. I am a wife and mother of 2 and Love that I get to work from home creating personal jewelry for all of life’s cherished moments

Let us know more about your business name - how did you come up with it?

Daisy chains workshop was inspired by my grandmother who’s name was Daisy, when my daughter was born we named her middle name after my grandma. It reminded me of the first jewelry we made as children, tying little flowers together for adornment and the family connections we all have.

What is your signature style / item? How did it become so?

I specialize in everyday dainty pieces. I would say that my most popular pieces are my scripture necklaces on a gold filled square. It allows the client to have a reminder of their favorite verse on them at all times.

What makes your business unique to the industry?

I think the fact a client can pretty much design a complete piece for themselves or a loved one, with names, dates, a meaningful verse or song lyrics makes it really special for the gift giver.

What's been your biggest roadblock when it comes to business and how have you been able to overcome?

I would say balancing everything. Finding time for all the things that come with a business, marketing, learning new things, weekend shows and then balancing it with family life. I feel like one is always falling through the cracks.

How has your business had to adapt amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic? What are you doing to navigate the situation?

Well, it has pretty much taken all my normal shows out of the equation which is typically anywhere from 4-6 a month. But it has also showed me how faithful and supportive my clients have been. I had to get a little creative in the beginning and I did friendship kits for kids and mask chains but the last 2 months I have been so grateful to be busy and people are coming to shop with locals before shopping amazon.

What is your favorite part of what you do?

I love the process of handstamping and making beautiful things! The quietness lining up the letters, spacing everything out and praying before I start each piece for the wearer of the necklace centers me to be able to make precise hits of the hammer. It becomes a spur practice that I am so grateful for.

What is your *must do* local activity?

I am a huge coffee lover and love to support our Local coffeehouses. I always meetup with customers at the lost bean in Tustin, it’s kinda the meeting place of our little town. Community has become a huge part of why daisy chains has been successful. Supporting school events and local charities like operation warm wishes and the max love project has allowed me to meet so many amazing women who make it their mission to support local small handmade businesses.
