Tell us a little bit about who you are and what you do:

Jen: JFOX Jewelry

Jen: JFOX Jewelry

Hi there! My name is Jen Fox, owner, designer and creator of JFOX Jewelry. Originally an east coast girl growing up in New Jersey and living in NYC for most of my adult life until 6 years ago, when I quit my job and moved to California to escape the stress and fast paced life. While JFOX Jewelry started back in 2013 as a hobby, it has been my full time job since 2016.

What is your signature style / item? How did it become so?

I pride myself of creating one of a kind statement jewelry using high quality gemstones. Over time my style has changed and I will continue to evolve as I hone my skills but I've already been drawn to stones, gemstones and crystals - their natural beauty and their healing nature.

What makes your business unique to the industry?

My mantra is: Be Bold. Stand out. Make a Statement. Be YOU! My unique, bohemian-luxe style, my energy, my creativity all help to set me apart from others in the industry.

What's been your biggest roadblock when it comes to business and how have you been able to overcome?

Right now the roadblock is COVID-19. I normally am scheduled to do 3-5 shows a week, every week, all year long. Jewelry is my livelihood, I hustle hard and I love every minute of it. To have everything canceled for 2020 it is a frightening time to be a small business. I've had to do the quick pivot and manage to draw customers to
online only. Back in early March I created DIY bracelet kits for kids and adults who are looking for something to do during lockdown. It's a learning tool and a fun activity to do together. These have been a huge hit! I've gone from in-person selling to bi-weekly Instagram Live Sales. It was something I always wanted to do but my schedule was always packed with markets and plus at first, a live sale is a scary idea. Now I hop on and do my thing without thinking much about it. I got over the camera fright real quick...I had to! I've definitely had to get creative, but I never skipped a beat and while markets and events are still not happening, I've managed to launch a new collection, set a Live Sale schedule, created new online customers and continuously working to give my new and old customers the authentic JFOX experience.

What is your favorite part of what you do?

For a long time I just didn't have the confidence to say what I wanted to do out loud. "I want to make jewelry!"  ...."I want to make jewelry, make money doing it, travel selling it, work from home and live at the beach." Once I put that out into the universe it made it real, I put my intentions out there and here I am. Jewelry is my passion. I had a dream about jewelry last night. I have visions of new designs. It doesn't feel much like work when you love what you do.

What is your *must do* local activity?

My "must do" activity is walk the beach path in Sunset Beach at sunset. I do it almost every night with my dog and husband. The way the sky changes for beautiful rainbow of colors, the waves crashing, the salty air - it's just so inspiring to me. There's a small beach bar ' Sea Legs' that is sometimes open in the evening - this would be the perfect place to grab a glass of wine and watch the sunset. If it were non-COVID times of course!
